Overview
- Reniec confirms it will no longer issue the traditional blue/yellow DNI and will provide only the electronic DNIe going forward.
- Free municipal campaigns from November 4–19 offer the DNIe to priority groups, with scheduled dates in Amarilis (Nov 5), San Bartolo (Nov 8), San José (Nov 10–12) and Congalla (Nov 11).
- Blue DNIs already held by citizens remain valid until their printed expiration date, after which the DNIe becomes mandatory.
- First‑time DNIe applicants can pay 30 soles during 2025, with procedures conducted in person for biometric capture; prior payments for blue DNI procedures can be applied to the switch.
- The DNIe includes an encrypted chip enabling legally valid digital signatures and access to online state services, and Reniec urges users to keep their PIN confidential, report theft to police, revoke certificates, and reset the PIN via Ciudadano Digital or at offices.
