Peru Enacts S/16-Per-Hour Incentive for Off-Duty Police Patrols

The measure targets greater street coverage with payments limited to voluntary seven-hour shifts after Finance Ministry registration.

Overview

  • Decreto Supremo N.° 273-2025-EF was published in El Peruano and is in force, establishing S/16 per hour for voluntary patrols and focused investigations during days off or vacations.
  • Eligibility covers active PNP arms personnel with medical aptitude “A,” from officers up to the rank of major and all NCOs, excluding newly graduated third-class NCOs.
  • The service must be a continuous seven-hour daily shift and cannot coincide with other extraordinary activities authorized by agreement.
  • Participation is voluntary, with regional and front commands running convocations, registrations, lotteries, designations, and on-the-ground supervision.
  • Payments are non-remunerative and non-pensionable, financed from the Interior Ministry’s institutional budget, and will be processed only after PNP HR sends beneficiary lists for MEF AIRHSP validation; the decree is signed by President José Jerí, Economy Minister Denisse Miralles, and Interior Minister Vicente Tiburcio.
