Peru Election Prep: ONPE Sets Nov. 23 Start for Polling-Place Choice, Confirms 37 Primary Slates

An Oct. 14 voter roll cutoff now determines both where citizens can vote and which party candidates qualify.

Overview

  • From November 23 to December 14, voters can use the Elige tu local de votación platform to select up to three polling sites near the address on their DNI.
  • The selection is limited to the district listed on each voter’s DNI as of the October 14 cutoff, so address changes after that date will not be reflected.
  • RENIEC’s validated electoral register lists 27,356,578 eligible voters inside and outside Peru, with a large share of young electors.
  • ONPE reports that 37 of 39 organizations registered presidential formulas, while Ciudadanos por el Perú and Frepap did not, and Morgan Quero was excluded for not appearing on the JNE-approved affiliate roll dated October 14.
  • Logistics are underway with more than 88,000 primary ballots printed, primary voting set for November 30 and December 7, JNE proclamations due by December 15, and final candidate inscriptions due by December 23.
