Overview
- An overnight joint operation on November 13 by the PNP’s Dirincri and Diviac with the Prosecutor’s Office carried out 11 raids in Chaclacayo, Villa El Salvador, San Juan de Lurigancho, and Parcona in Ica.
- The network allegedly ran a concealed workshop in San Juan de Lurigancho that produced S/10–S/200 notes, with printing plates also prepared for US$100 bills.
- Authorities seized counterfeit bills at various stages, printing plates, finishing supplies, mobile phones, an alleged firearm, and S/21,000 in genuine currency.
- Seven suspects were detained on a preliminary basis and identified by prosecutors as Pavel Contreras, Ángelo Pezo, Christian Urbina, Edwin Gamonal, Maytte Salas, Cintia Anglas, and Milagros Santos.
- Investigators say the bills were distributed in districts of Lima and regions including Ica, Arequipa, and Lambayeque, and they continue to analyze evidence with the possibility of additional arrests.
