Overview
- The Defense Ministry is sending 41,000 Armed Forces personnel under the Comando Conjunto to more than 10,000 polling sites across Peru to provide security for the 4 October elections.
- A formal dispatch ceremony took place Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Patio of the First Special Forces Brigade in Chorrillos and was led by Defense Minister Rafael Belaunde Llosa with senior military commanders.
- The Comando Conjunto will coordinate Army, Navy and Air Force units for the mission and will move personnel to voting centers in multiple regions as part of the operation.
- The Jurado Nacional de Elecciones is overseeing the electoral calendar and has been supervising the distribution of ballots and election materials since 18 September to ensure logistics match the security deployment.
- The elections on 4 October will choose governors, regional councillors, mayors and municipal councillors for the 2027–2030 term and voters are advised to confirm their polling place and table assignments through the ONPE platform.
