Peru Declares 60-Day Rain Emergency Covering 382 Districts

Arequipa’s 38 districts must respond with existing budgets.

Overview

  • The national measure spans 20 regions for two months to enable immediate risk reduction, response and rehabilitation actions.
  • Ucayali is included, with provincial coverage across Coronel Portillo, Purús, Padre Abad and Atalaya after floods affected 15 native communities.
  • The COEN confirmed the December 28 overflow of the Curanja River that damaged homes in Purús, with communities still awaiting assistance.
  • A separate Supreme Decree (No. 003-2026-PCM) places 38 Arequipa districts under emergency for landslide, gully activation and flood risks.
  • Lambayeque’s regional emergency center says the region was omitted from the declaration and warns that unfinished ANIN works leave about 1,500 families at risk.
