Peru Confirms S/400 Schooling Bonus for Late-January Payouts as Education Panel Advances Teacher Increase Plan

The proposal requires a vote in the full Congress before any change takes effect.

Overview

  • The 2026 schooling bonus is set at S/400 under Supreme Decree No. 002-2025-EF, which establishes the public budget rules for the year.
  • Most eligible public-sector workers and pensioners are slated to receive deposits between January 21 and 26, according to the government payment calendar.
  • Auxiliary staff and certain contracted teachers will be paid in June 2026, and workers with less than three years of service may receive a proportional amount.
  • Eligibility includes appointed and contracted public servants, teachers under the Reforma Magisterial, university faculty, health personnel, public-sector laborers, Armed Forces and National Police members, pensioners, and public workers under the private regime who lack a similar bonus.
  • A Congressional education committee approved a draft measure to raise teachers’ schooling bonus and aguinaldos to S/3,500.70 (the first-scale RIM), covering teachers and education auxiliaries, with proposed single-installment payments in March, July, and December, pending full congressional approval.
