Overview
- The Monday, Dec. 8 (Immaculate Conception) and Tuesday, Dec. 9 (Battle of Ayacucho) dates are official paid national holidays in Peru, creating a Dec. 6–9 long weekend.
- Private‑sector staff who work on either holiday without a substitute day off are entitled to triple pay, which drops to double if a compensatory rest is granted, and no extra applies when the day coincides with the regular weekly rest.
- A judicial order suspended toll collection at the Villa and Punta Negra booths from Dec. 6–9; Rutas de Lima said it will cease operating the concession and the Municipality of Lima will assume administration and keep tolls off during the legal process.
- Mincetur forecasts more than 1.3 million travelers and roughly US$154 million in domestic tourism spending over the four days.
- Regionally, Argentina will not add a puente for Dec. 8 after using its three allowable nonworking days for 2025, and in Mexico Dec. 24 and Dec. 12 are not mandatory rest days under the LFT, whereas Dec. 25 is an official holiday that triggers triple pay if worked.
