Overview
- The official gazette El Peruano designates Monday, Dec. 8 (Immaculate Conception) and Tuesday, Dec. 9 (Battle of Ayacucho) as national holidays.
- The long weekend for many Peruvians ran from Saturday, Dec. 6 through Tuesday, Dec. 9, with no extension to Wednesday, Dec. 10, or Thursday, Dec. 11.
- Work and public services proceed normally on Dec. 10 and 11 because no decree adds additional rest days.
- The Education Ministry has not suspended classes, so schools hold normal sessions on Wednesday, and the academic year continues through Friday, Dec. 19.
- Employees who work on the holidays are entitled to the so‑called triple remuneration—ordinary holiday pay, pay for hours worked, and a 100% surcharge—which the Lima Chamber of Commerce says effectively equals two extra daily wages.
