Peru Clears Noche Crema and Noche Blanquiazul to Proceed on Jan. 24

Following talks at the presidential palace, the Interior Ministry approved simultaneous showcases with police assigned to manage security.

Overview

  • President José Jerí announced on X that both club presentations will go ahead on the same date.
  • The Interior Ministry granted event guarantees and the PNP will provide security, with both clubs agreeing to coordinate.
  • Alianza Lima will host Inter Miami at Matute at 8:00 p.m., and Universitario will face Universidad de Chile at the Monumental at 9:00 p.m.
  • Authorities had asked the clubs to consider rescheduling, but ticket sales and contractual commitments kept Jan. 24 in place, with Alianza warning of an estimated US$10 million loss if blocked.
  • The lead-up included heated rhetoric, as a journalist criticized Universitario’s lawyer for arguing priority should follow ticket sales while asserting police could handle both events.
