Peru Authorizes 2026 Southern Anchoveta Season, Sets 251,000-Tonne Cap

Overview

  • Fishing opens on January 1, 2026 and will close once the authorized limit is reached or by June 30 at the latest.
  • The season covers waters from 16°00' south latitude to the southern limit of Peru’s maritime domain.
  • Only vessels with valid permits and an assigned LMCE-Sur may operate, with mandatory SISESAT tracking and a minimum 13 mm mesh size.
  • If juveniles exceed 10% of daily landings at a port, fishing in the affected zones will be suspended for at least three consecutive days.
  • Produce’s supervision directorate will publish barred-vessel lists under satellite rules, authorities will enforce compliance, and penalties apply for exceeding assigned limits.
