Peru and UAE Conclude First Round of CEPA Talks as Technical Work Continues in December

Negotiators now pivot to additional virtual sessions this month focused on services, investment, customs.

  • Further meetings through December will address trade in services, investment, and customs procedures with a focus on trade facilitation.
  • Peruvian goods face tariffs up to 14.5% in the UAE, with agricultural products paying as high as 25.6%, which negotiators aim to reduce.
  • Bilateral trade reached US$1.94 billion in 2024 and US$2.245 billion from January to September 2025, dominated by gold but with growing shipments of fruits, grains, coffee and other value-added products; Peru also seeks to attract Emirati investment in infrastructure, renewable energy, tourism and technology.
