Overview

• Peru’s congressional Labor Committee approved a draft to observe four national holidays on the following Monday: June 7, July 23, August 6 and November 1.
• The Peruvian proposal would centralize the authority to declare national holidays in Congress, bar regional and local feriados, and require technical opinions from the BCR and MEF for future holiday changes.
• The draft in Peru is not yet law and still needs debate and a vote in the full Plenary of Congress.
• Argentina formalized a three‑day weekend by publishing Resolution 139/2025 to move the October 12 “Día del Respeto a la Diversidad Cultural” to Friday, October 10 under Decree 614/2025, which allows weekend‑dated transferable holidays to shift to the prior Friday or next Monday.
• Because October 10 is an official national holiday in Argentina, employees who work that day must be paid double under Article 166 of the Labor Contract Law.
