Overview
- Putra Mas’s departure from Perth formally ends 127 years of elephants at Perth Zoo.
 - The journey covers about 2,700 to 2,749 kilometres with roughly a dozen planned stops, with arrival at Monarto Safari Park expected on Wednesday.
 - Six months of preparation conditioned the 35-year-old bull for travel in an insulated crate fitted with reverse‑cycle air‑conditioning, water, snacks and live video monitoring.
 - Four carers, two specialist veterinarians and four drivers are escorting the convoy, with a media representative documenting the trip.
 - On arrival he will complete Monarto’s founding herd with females Permai, Burma, Pak Boon and Tang Mo, as Perth Zoo repurposes the elephant space to expand its African Savannah and resume giraffe breeding.
