Overview

  • The Bureau of Meteorology’s city station recorded a minimum of 3.2 °C on July 9, marking Perth’s coldest start since June 2023.
  • Perth Airport fell to 1.6 °C just after 7 am and the CBD dipped to 3.4 °C at 7.30 am, creating widespread fog and frost.
  • Inland Wheatbelt locations saw temperatures plunge as low as –2.6 °C, with subzero readings also reported in Cunderdin, Wandering and Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
  • BoM forecaster Patch Clapp attributed the chill to a weekend cold front followed by settled, clear skies that amplify overnight cooling.
  • Forecasts indicate cold mornings around 5 °C will persist and daytime highs will remain below 20 °C through the coming week.
