Person Rescued After 30-Metre Fall Down Walton Embankment

Crews used a stretcher with a RAG system to recover the casualty for transfer to hospital.

Overview

  • Emergency services were called to Rice Lane in Walton at about 9:10pm on Saturday after reports of a fall of roughly 30 metres.
  • Merseyside Fire and Rescue arrived by 9:17pm with a search and rescue team alongside Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service.
  • Paramedics assessed the casualty as conscious and breathing while crews formulated the extrication plan.
  • Metal fencing was removed to reach the embankment, the person was secured to a stretcher, then recovered using a RAG system.
  • The casualty was handed to NWAS for transport to hospital, and fire crews left the scene at 10:48pm as police earlier described the operation as an ongoing search.
