The killing happened in the 70th Precinct, where homicides have been relatively uncommon this year.

Overview

  • Police identified the victim as Ramel Ingram, 24, who was shot outside 85 Crooke Avenue on Sept. 17.
  • Officers from the 70th Precinct responded to a 911 call around 8:44–8:45 p.m. and found Ingram with a chest wound.
  • Paramedics took him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
  • A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene, with no charges announced as the investigation continues.
  • Reporters observed bullet holes on the building’s front doors, and NYPD data show the precinct logged one killing and six shootings through Sept. 14, slightly below last year’s pace.
