Overview

• The alarm was raised just before 6.30am at Penkridge railway station in Staffordshire, with British Transport Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service attending.
• Paramedics said the individual could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

• Lines between Wolverhampton and Stafford were closed as emergency crews worked at the site and replacement buses were put in place.
• Services from Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street were also affected, with disruption lasting around three hours before trains resumed.
