Overview
- Emergency services were called to Chelmsford railway station at about 10:20am after reports of a casualty on the tracks.
- All lines between Shenfield and Colchester were closed during the response, with trains cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or revised.
- Greater Anglia advised alternative routes via Cambridge and arranged limited replacement buses between Witham–Shenfield and Witham–Braintree.
- Intercity services were disrupted on the Ipswich–London route, including the 11:09 from Ipswich terminating at Colchester.
- Operations returned to normal at about 3:20pm, and operators directed passengers to compensation guidance and support resources.
