Perry Farrell Files Formal Answer Denying Jane’s Addiction Lawsuit, Seeks Dismissal and Fees

Three bandmates are pursuing $10 million over the 2024 Boston altercation that halted the reunion tour.

Overview

  • Farrell filed his response on Sept. 8 in Los Angeles, denying every allegation and asserting that Dave Navarro suffered no damages.
  • The filing lists 35 affirmative defenses, including claims of “unclean hands,” failure to state a cause of action, and failure to mitigate, while saying Farrell acted in good faith without malice.
  • He asks the court to dismiss the case, deny Navarro any award, and order Navarro to pay his attorney fees and legal costs.
  • Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins sued in July over the Boston onstage altercation captured on video, alleging assault, emotional distress, negligence, breach of duty and contract, and more than $10 million in losses tied to the canceled tour and derailed plans.
  • Farrell has also filed a separate lawsuit alleging years-long bullying by his bandmates, while the plaintiffs’ attorney says the video and their complaint speak for themselves and that Farrell’s response does not halt the litigation.
