Overview

  • Perplexity's AI voice assistant is now available on iOS as a free update within the existing app, following its Android debut in January 2025.
  • The assistant can perform tasks like booking reservations, sending emails, scheduling calendar events, playing media, and more through web-driven, multi-app workflows.
  • It integrates with Apple services such as Apple Music and Mail, with support for Gmail and Google Calendar planned for future updates.
  • Unlike Siri, the Perplexity assistant works on older iPhones and iPads, but it cannot replace Siri as the default assistant or control system-level settings due to iOS restrictions.
  • Users can quickly access the assistant via a Lock Screen shortcut or assign it to the iPhone's Action button for seamless task execution.
