Overview
- Carolina Perles alleged on Telecinco that José Luis Ábalos may have hidden money abroad, citing frequent post-ministerial travel and showing cash bundles she said were his.
- Perles asserted that Koldo García acted as a “topo” placed by former PSOE organizer Santos Cerdán to control Ábalos, and described García’s behavior toward her as hostile.
- The Madrid Court of Instruction No. 18 rejected Ábalos’s bid to halt the broadcast, and Judge María Luisa Prieto opened preliminary proceedings over a possible offence against his honour.
- Ábalos denied wrongdoing, said he is not corrupt, claimed his ex-wife was paid for the interview, and argued he has not traveled outside Spain because his passport was withdrawn.
- Investigators seized 34 electronic devices from Ábalos in June, and La Razón reported that one hard drive allegedly contained recordings and documents about Perles, a claim attributed to sources close to Ábalos.
