The 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' TV series is set to premiere on Disney+ on December 20, 2023, promising a more faithful adaptation of the books than the previous film adaptations.
Author Rick Riordan is intimately involved with the adaptation's production, serving as executive producer, co-writing the pilot episode, and creating a series bible for the series with co-showrunner Jonathan E. Steinberg.
Walker Scobell has been cast as the titular character, Percy Jackson, with Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri portraying Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood, respectively.
The series will follow the first book closely, with Percy discovering his lineage as the son of a Greek god and embarking on a journey to prevent an all-out war between the gods after being framed for stealing Zeus' lightning bolt.
The series will be available to stream on both Disney+ and Hulu.
