Overview

  • A DoD-wide email and a USAJobs posting invite current civilian employees to volunteer for temporary details at ICE and CBP sites on the border and in the interior.
  • Listings state volunteers will not perform law-enforcement functions and will focus on data entry, processing, logistics, and operational planning tied to arrests, raids, and Southwest Border patrols.
  • Deployments can run up to 180 days, locations are non-negotiable with as little as 96 hours’ notice, and travel, lodging, and per diem may be reimbursed, though relocation is not.
  • The opportunity is not a promotion, carries a “moderate risk” designation, may require extensive overtime, and does not require a security clearance or drug testing.
  • DHS, ICE, and CBP did not immediately comment, and the outreach comes as the administration pursues a broader enforcement buildout and a separate ICE hiring push.
