Pentagon Launches Online Portal for Government Employees and Contractors to Report UFO Sightings

New online form, restricted to government employees and contractors, aims to collate and analyze firsthand knowledge of UFO-related programs and activities since 1945 for a report to Congress by June 2024; public reporting mechanism is anticipated in the future.

  • The Pentagon has launched a new online portal, allowing current or former government employees and contractors to report Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFO sightings. This is part of an initiative by the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to collate firsthand knowledge of government projects and activities related to this phenomenon dating back to 1945.
  • Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, AARO's Director, encourages any individual with firsthand experiences of U.S. government UAP programs or activities to report their experiences using this new platform. Kirkpatrick emphasized that all data would be protected as personal and confidential.
  • The reports collected through this online platform will contribute to a Historical Record Report to Congress by June 2024. This report aims to investigate the history of alleged U.S. government programs involving UFOs, responding to a mounting governmental and public interest in these encounters.
  • This online reporting mechanism is currently accessible only to federal government employees and contractors. However, the Pentagon is exploring methods of extending reporting abilities to the public as part of the third phase of this investigation initiative.
  • The online platform will not accept classified information or secondhand accounts, ensuring the integrity and security of the data collected. Another caveat is that individuals who submit reports may be contacted by the Pentagon for additional interviews.
  • The platform's launch follows disclosure of various UAP sightings by military personnel and data indicating the existence of about 300 encounters, some demonstrating 'concerning performance characteristics' such as high maneuverability and speed. However, the Pentagon asserted this could also indicate foreign activity, hinting at potential security threats.
