Pentagon Bans Drag Shows on Military Bases After Criticism from Republicans

The Pentagon canceled a drag show scheduled for the first day of Pride Month at a Nevada Air Force base after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Gen. Mark Milley shut the event down.
Drag shows on US military bases canceled by Pentagon after Republican criticism Interior Secretary Deb Haaland’s orders hosting of drag shows is “inconsistent with regulations regarding the use of (Defense Department) resources” according to a Pentagon spokeswoman.
The Defense Department will not host drag shows at U.S. military installations after Republican politicians complained about events scheduled on bases to celebrate Pride Month according to the Pentagon.
The Pentagon informed Nellis Air Force Base that a previously approved drag show could not take place on the base on the first day of Pride Month because it was not in line with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s recent comments.
The Pentagon forced the cancellation of a drag show at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada for Pride Month and considers on-base drag shows inappropriate according to the Defense Department.
