Pennsylvania Woman Faces Charges for Live-Streaming Animal Torture on YouTube
PETA pushes for federal charges under the PACT Act, as the videos allegedly catered to a fetish involving harm to small animals.
- Anigar Monsee, a 28-year-old woman from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated animal cruelty for allegedly filming herself torturing and killing animals and uploading the videos to her YouTube channel.
- Monsee was arrested after representatives from PETA located her by gathering clues from comments left on her YouTube channel and from some of her videos.
- Monsee would request “likes” and engage with YouTube viewers before she began torturing an animal. Some of the comments were sexually charged, suggesting the videos were part of a fetish in which small animals are harmed for sexual gratification of viewers.
- PETA is recommending pushing for federal charges under the PACT Act, which empowers the federal government to stop the creation and distribution of 'animal crush' videos across state lines.
- Monsee is currently in custody on $20,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 5.
