Pennsylvania State Trooper Killed, Another Wounded in Shootout; Suspect Dead

A Pennsylvania state trooper was killed and another was critically injured in two violent encounters with an armed suspect.
The suspect opened fire on a Pennsylvania state trooper near the State Police barracks in Mifflintown and fled the scene.
The suspect was cornered in Walker Township, and a gunfight broke out between the suspect and another state trooper, resulting in both their deaths.
The name of the trooper who was fatally shot was not immediately released.
The motive for the shootings remained under investigation, and at least 25 U.S. law enforcement officers have been shot to death in the line of duty this year.
