• State police recovered Renesmay Eutsey’s body early Thursday partially submerged along the Youghiogheny River near Smithton after she was reported missing from her Dunbar home hours earlier.
• Kourtney Malinda Eutsey, 31, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide and multiple related counts, was arraigned, and is being held in Fayette County Prison without bond.
• Fayette County District Attorney Michael Aubele said the child appeared malnourished and showed bruises and cigarette burns, while the official cause of death awaits the Westmoreland County coroner’s autopsy.
• Investigators reported conflicting accounts from adults in the home, and surveillance footage and electronic device data contradicted their statements during the search.
• Court documents say other children described abuse and the child being placed in bags, and Eutsey told police she disposed of the body after claiming the girl died following a prior burn and choking episode; Children & Youth Services removed the remaining children and no charges have been filed against partner Sarah Shipley at this time.
