PennDOT Lifts Speed and Vehicle Restrictions Across Central Pa. After Snowstorm

Officials imposed 45 mph limits with Tier 1 controls earlier to keep interstates passable.

  • PennDOT said all temporary speed and vehicle restrictions in District 8 were cleared as conditions improved Tuesday afternoon.
  • The announcement came around 5 p.m. and covered Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties.
  • Earlier in the day, a uniform 45 mph limit was set on major routes including I-81, I-78, I-83, I-283, PA 581, US 15, US 222, US 22, US 30 and portions of US 11.
  • I-81 from Camp Hill through Franklin County carried a right-lane-only rule for commercial vehicles, and Tier 1 restrictions applied from the I-81/I-78 split in Lebanon County through Allentown to the New Jersey line.
  • Officials cautioned that some roads may still have ice and snow, urged drivers to give plows space, and directed travelers to 511PA for real-time conditions.
