Penguins hire former star Jason Spezza as assistant GM

Jason Spezza will report to Penguins president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas.
Spezza previously worked as a special assistant to Dubas in Toronto last season.
Spezza scored 363 goals during his 19-year NHL career with Ottawa, Dallas, and Toronto.
In Toronto, Spezza worked in various departments including player personnel, player development, minor league operations, and hockey research and development.
The Penguins are still searching for a general manager to replace Ron Hextall, and Dubas will serve as the general manager in a temporary capacity.
