Pemex Shuts Clandestine Jet-Fuel Tap in Mexico City as FGR Disables 13 in Jalisco

Pemex reports the leak is contained with excavation pending to cancel the illegal branch.

Overview

  • Inspectors found the tap inside a commercial property on Avenida Tezozómoc in Azcapotzalco, where Pemex controlled a spill and authorities said there was no danger to nearby residents.
  • Officials said a person fled and left the valves open, and responders secured 50 drums inside the site, 27 containing turbosina, along with a pickup truck linked to similar thefts.
  • Pemex’s logistics intelligence tied the tap to the Azcapotzalco–ASA turbosinoduct that feeds airport fuel facilities, and crews prepared to excavate to locate and cancel the branch as security forces held the scene.
  • Separately, the federal prosecutor’s office reported locating and inactivating 13 clandestine taps along the Salamanca–Guadalajara poliduct in Degollado, Tototlán and Tala after alerts from Pemex Security, with no arrests reported.
  • In Celaya, Guanajuato, state police seized roughly 13,000 liters of fuel and located a tap near Pemex infrastructure, turning the hydrocarbon and containers over to the federal prosecutor.
