Overview
- Pemex’s September indicators show Dos Bocas processed about 194,800 barrels per day, or 57% of capacity, marking its highest monthly throughput since opening.
- Total refining across Pemex’s seven plants fell to 949,772 barrels per day in September, down 10% from August, with sharp drops at Salamanca (to 80,977 bpd) and Salina Cruz (to 144,654 bpd).
- Tula led September crude runs at 248,319 bpd and produced more gasoline than Dos Bocas (about 90,899 vs. 84,682 bpd), contradicting the energy secretary’s assertion that Dos Bocas leads gasoline output and processes 270,000 bpd.
- Pemex’s CEO said Dos Bocas recently reached roughly 230,000 bpd and set a 260,000 bpd goal by year-end, and he reported Deer Park operating near 80% with an estimated $500 million maintenance program.
- Industry advisers say the predominance of heavy crude is driving accelerated wear, frequent maintenance, and some off-spec fuels at Dos Bocas that require additional processing or transfers to other refineries.
