Peloton Recalls 833,000 Original Bike+ Units Over Seat Post Failure Risk

The action follows a 2023 seat post recall, landing on the day Peloton reports earnings.

Overview

  • The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Peloton received three reports of seat posts detaching on the Original Series Bike+, including two injuries.
  • Owners are instructed to stop using affected bikes and request a free replacement seat post that Peloton says users can install at home.
  • The recall covers model PL02 units with serial numbers beginning with “T,” manufactured from 2019 to 2022 and sold from January 2020 through April 2025 at Peloton, Dick’s Sporting Goods and online retailers.
  • About 833,000 bikes are affected in the U.S., with an additional 44,800 in Canada where no incidents have been reported, according to recall notices.
  • This is Peloton’s second bike seat-post recall after 2.2 million base Bikes were pulled in 2023, a prior action that drove repair costs and subscription pauses.
