• The Consejo de Ministros appointed Casares on July 29 to succeed Eugenia Gómez de Diego as Government Delegate in Cantabria.
• He registered his resignation from the Congreso de los Diputados, where he had served since 2019, to assume his new duties.
• Casares secured the PSOE Cantabria leadership in February with 52.3% of the vote, deepening divides after ousting Pablo Zuloaga.
