Overview

• Rhode Island State Police responded around 9:15 p.m. Monday to I-95 north near Exit 37 in Providence after reports of a pedestrian struck.
• The pedestrian was found in the high-speed lane and was pronounced dead at the scene by Providence Fire Department personnel.
• State police said two vehicles were involved and that both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.
• Preliminary information indicates the pedestrian was trying to cross the interstate in an easterly direction at the time of the incident.
