Pedestrian Killed in Collision with Police Car Responding to Emergency in Birmingham

Police and the Independent Office for Police Conduct are investigating the fatal incident and seeking public assistance for additional evidence.

A 40-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a police car near Yardley Road and Florence Road in Acocks Green, Birmingham, on Wednesday evening.
The police vehicle was responding to a 999 call about a man reportedly carrying knives on Warwick Road when the collision occurred.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and his family is being supported by authorities.
The two officers in the police vehicle were unharmed, and no signs of disorder were found when other officers responded to the original 999 call.
Authorities are requesting public help, including dashcam footage, to aid the investigation being conducted in collaboration with the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
