Overview
- At about 4:55 a.m. on July 18, a man walked into the far left lane of northbound I-280 just south of Highway 17 and was struck by a Toyota sedan.
- The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and has not yet been publicly identified.
- The Toyota driver remained at the scene, cooperated fully with officers, and was not injured.
- CHP initially shut the two left lanes while keeping the two right lanes open and fully reopened the freeway by approximately 7 a.m.
- Authorities are still investigating the collision and have asked anyone with information to contact the San Jose CHP area office.
