Pearlman Collection Splits 63 Masterworks Between LACMA, Brooklyn Museum and MoMA

A shared custodial model will see the works exhibited at each institution starting with a Village Square show at LACMA in February 2026

Overview

  • The Henry and Rose Pearlman Foundation has allocated its 63-piece assembly of Impressionist through modern works among the Brooklyn Museum (29 works), MoMA (28) and LACMA (6) under a collaborative sharing framework.
  • LACMA will receive its first Vincent van Gogh and Édouard Manet paintings, including Van Gogh’s Tarascon Stagecoach (1888) and Manet’s Young Woman in a Round Hat (circa 1877–79).
  • MoMA’s portion comprises 28 works led by Paul Cézanne paintings and watercolors that bolster its renowned drawings and prints holdings.
  • Daniel Edelman, president of the foundation, emphasized that the collection “belongs to the public” and highlighted the gift’s flexible sharing strategy to keep the artworks in active display.
  • All three museums are finalizing a rotating exhibition program set to debut as “Village Square” at LACMA in February 2026 before traveling to Brooklyn and MoMA.
