Peak dev slams “Robox slop ripoff” filled with Counter-Strike style loot cases

Overview

  • Peak co-developers Aggro Crab and Landfall took to X to denounce the Roblox clone Cliff and urged players to pirate Peak rather than support its microtransaction-laden ripoff.
  • Cliff replicates Peak’s art, hub area and climbing mechanics but undermines balance with items such as stamina-boosting pickaxes and cosmetic pets sold in Robux.
  • Since its June 16 Steam launch, Peak has sold over five million copies in its first month and remained among the top 15 most-played games, all for a one-time $7.99 purchase.
  • Cliff has attracted significant engagement on Roblox, with over 7,000 concurrent users and more than 59,000 favorites despite criticism of its pay-to-win model.
  • Developers said they plan to fast-track console versions of Peak to broaden official access and counter future clones.
