Peachland Orders 325 Evacuations as Munro Lake Wildfire Grows to 2.2 Square Kilometres

Overview

  • The blaze remains out of control at roughly 2.2 square kilometres near the Munro Lake Forest Service Road about six kilometres southwest of Peachland.
  • An evacuation alert covers more than 1,100 additional properties, with residents told to be ready to leave on short notice.
  • BC Wildfire Service says more than 40 personnel, air tankers and four helicopters are deployed alongside local fire departments and structure-protection teams.
  • The fire is suspected to be human-caused, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
  • Size estimates increased from 0.74 to over 2.2 square kilometres in a day, and the fire is threatening the Munro Lake Forest Service Road and the Peachland Main Road.
