PCB to Run Multan Sultans for PSL 11 as 10 Bidders Advance to Jan. 8 Franchise Auction

Investors face a reserve of PKR 1.3 billion per team with a PKR 850 million annual distribution guarantee.

Overview

  • PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the board will operate Multan Sultans this season and auction the franchise after PSL 11, with an acting head to be appointed within 8–10 days.
  • The auction for two new franchises is scheduled for January 8 at Islamabad’s Jinnah Convention Centre, with 10 technically qualified bidders cleared to participate.
  • Expansion to eight teams begins with PSL 11, and successful bidders will select from Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Hyderabad, Muzaffarabad, or Gilgit for team designation.
  • The PCB has signaled a PKR 1.3 billion annual fee for each new team and offered a minimum PKR 850 million per season from the central pool for five editions to protect franchise revenues.
  • Wasim Akram has been named PSL brand ambassador and will attend the auction, while the board considers starting PSL 11 on March 23 instead of March 26.
