PCB Shortlists 10 Bidders for Two New PSL Teams Ahead of Jan. 8 Auction

The PKR 1.3 billion reserve fee pairs with a five-season PKR 850 million payout floor to reassure investors.

Overview

  • The auction will be held on January 8, 2026 at Islamabad’s Jinnah Convention Centre for two 10-year franchises.
  • The PCB said 10 of 12 applicants cleared technical checks, with interest from Pakistan, the USA, Australia, Canada and the UAE.
  • Each new team carries a PKR 1.3 billion annual reserve fee, with equal central-pool shares and a minimum PKR 850 million distribution guaranteed for the next five seasons.
  • Former Multan Sultans owners submitted initial bid documents, while control of Multan for PSL 11 remains unresolved and some reports suggest the PCB could run the side temporarily.
  • Successful bidders can pick from PCB-listed cities — Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Hyderabad, Muzaffarabad or Gilgit — as the PSL expands to eight teams from March 26 to May 3, 2026, with a USD 1.4 million player-draft spend allowed per team.
