Overview
- Local media and multiple outlets report that Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi has approved an extension for Mike Hesson to remain interim Test head coach for the two-match series against Sri Lanka.
- Hesson took the temporary Test role during the England tour after Sarfaraz Ahmed was sacked, and the board carried out broader staff and squad changes including the removal of bowling coach Umar Gul.
- Hesson will continue to hold his white-ball coaching job while leading the Test side, and he has said he would be open to the Test role on a permanent basis but is currently focused on upcoming white-ball commitments.
- The Sri Lanka Tests are scheduled for Rawalpindi (Nov 9–13) and Lahore (Nov 17–21) and form part of Pakistan’s World Test Championship 2025–27 campaign.
- The PCB has not issued a formal long-term confirmation for Hesson, and Pakistan enters the series under pressure to improve a low WTC position reported at five points and a points percentage of about 4.63.
