PCB and Franchises Finalise PSL Season 12 Rules

The measures aim to steer team building to protect competitive balance ahead of the January auction.

Overview

  • A PSL operations workshop led by CEO Salman Naseer in Lahore on Friday, October 30, 2026, produced unanimous agreement on the Season 12 framework covering retentions, direct signings and the auction.
  • The direct‑signing window is open until November 23, 2026, and only players who missed the last two PSL editions are eligible for those single‑marquee deals.
  • Franchises must submit final retention lists by January 13, 2027, with the player auction scheduled for January 23, 2027, giving teams ten days to finalise squads before the sale.
  • Each team may retain up to seven players but must release its previous season’s highest‑paid player into the auction pool, and every franchise must meet a minimum auction spend of PKR 36.5 crore.
  • Financial limits were fixed to shape spending: a base salary cap of PKR 45 crore rises to PKR 50.5 crore for teams that make or keep direct signings, a structure meant to balance competitive parity while teams assess domestic talent in the National T20 competitions and contend with limited overseas availability.
