PBS Writers Poised for Strike Over Contract Dispute

Writers at key PBS stations have authorized a strike if a new agreement isn't reached by November 21.

Writers Guild of America members at PBS stations in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles have voted to authorize a strike.
The current contract, covering 94 writers, expires at 11:59 p.m. ET on November 21, 2024.
The union demands include union protections for animation writers, fair compensation for writer-producers, and residuals for streaming.
100% of voting members supported the strike authorization, with 83% participation in the vote.
Writers from 20 PBS animated series have pledged not to cross the picket line if a strike occurs.
