Overview

  • Shore said he underwent surgery on Aug. 21 at Cedars-Sinai with Dr. Nicholas Nissen, and doctors removed the tumor and a small amount of surrounding tissue, leaving his pancreas intact.
  • He said the abnormality was found after a head-to-toe scan at SimonMed in Las Vegas about three months earlier, with a follow-up call a week later confirming a tumor in his pancreas.
  • In an Instagram video posted Wednesday, the 57-year-old said the operation was successful, described the recovery as difficult, and noted he is healing at home.
  • Shore said the tumor was noncancerous and may have been present for 15 to 20 years, and that physicians recommended removal even though it was not an emergency.
  • He urged followers to consider preventive scans, which reports note can cost roughly $1,000 to $2,000 and are not always covered by insurance or recommended for routine screening.
