The Paul Smith x Commission collaboration draws from Dylan Cao and Jin Kay's Asian-American heritage and nineties influences, with emphasis on the clothes their parents wore in the ‘80s and ’90s.
The clothing line includes track stripes, jolting tones, oversized silhouettes, military-inspired jackets, punk-ish jeans with animal prints, among others, capturing both Smith's legacy and Commission's downtown cool.
Notably, Cao and Kay's inspiration came from Paul Smith's photography book “Father + Son,” and they dove into Smith's late '90s and early 2000s runway collections for more ideas.
Commission is part of &PaulSmith, a fashion incubator and mentorship program launched by the veteran designer, Paul Smith, with the aim of spotlighting emerging talents in fashion.
