Paul Hoynes Named 2026 BBWAA Career Excellence Award Recipient

The veteran Cleveland beat writer received 177 of 407 BBWAA votes after four decades chronicling the city’s team.

  • The BBWAA announced the honor on Dec. 9, with Hoynes to be recognized during Hall of Fame Induction Weekend in Cooperstown from July 24–27, 2026.
  • Scott Miller finished second with 128 votes and Tom Verducci received 100, with voting limited to members with at least 10 consecutive years of service.
  • Hoynes becomes the 77th recipient and the fourth honoree from the Cleveland market, joining Gordon Cobbledick, Hal Lebovitz and Sheldon Ocker.
