Paul Danan’s Cause of Death Revealed as Drug Toxicity, Inquest Confirms

The former Hollyoaks actor and reality TV star died in January at age 46 from a lethal combination of substances including heroin and cocaine.

Paul Danan’s provisional cause of death was determined to be combined drug toxicity involving heroin, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, cocaine, and zopiclone, with benzodiazepine use as a contributing factor.
The actor was found unresponsive at his home in Bristol on January 15, 2025, and was pronounced dead by emergency services.
An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned at Avon Coroner’s Court, with a full hearing scheduled for May 28, 2025.
Danan had been open about his struggles with addiction, spending over £1 million on rehabilitation and speaking publicly about his recovery efforts.
He was known for his role as Sol Patrick in Hollyoaks and appearances on Celebrity Love Island and Celebrity Big Brother, and his death has prompted tributes from fans and colleagues.
